Waterproof socks are a reality. Moreover, they are available to everyone. Such socks are produced by the company DexShell and among them is the Terrain Walking model. These socks are made on the basis of the most modern materials, which is the key to their unique qualities.

Upon closer inspection of this model, it is noticeable that it has a three-layer structure. Nevertheless, the socks are not too thick and are suitable for all-season use for trekking. Their outer layer is designed to provide a decent appearance and durability. In accordance with these tasks, the main material chosen is polyester. In addition to it, nylon and elastane are used in this material, and elastic is also used in the wide elastic band of the socks. The heel, toe area and sole are made denser than other parts of the socks, and therefore this model is able to last a long time, and the socks are very comfortable when walking.

However, the main layer is the one located below. This is an elastic and thin membrane that is made in England. This type of membrane is called Porelle. Thanks to such a quality as partial permeability, it makes socks waterproof. Any moisture can pass through such a membrane only in one direction (this way all the sweat is removed from the socks). Water cannot get inside, and therefore the feet remain completely dry under any circumstances. It is important that the membrane does not prevent air from passing through it at all, and therefore there is no so-called “greenhouse effect”.

Since the membrane needs additional protection from damage, Terrain Walking socks have another layer on the inside. It is made comfortable for the skin of the feet and strong enough to keep the socks intact for a long time. This layer consists mainly of Coolmax synthetic fiber. During production, it undergoes a special treatment with silver, due to which it receives a durable antibacterial coating. Even if you do not take off such socks throughout the day of intensive walking, there will be no characteristic unpleasant odor. In addition, the material contains nylon, which gives it high strength.

What are DexShell waterproof socks made of?

DexShell socks consist of three layers:

— The main functional layer is the Porelle® membrane, which is produced in England. It is it that makes DexShell socks waterproof, and most importantly, it is responsible for effective sweat removal. The elastic and durable Porelle® membrane works due to the temperature difference inside and outside the sock, which is why it is not recommended to wear DexShell socks over regular ones.

How to wash DexShell socks:

Wash the socks by hand in cool water (no more than 40°C). Do not wring the product, as this may damage the membrane.

How to dry DexShell socks:

First, dry the socks inside out, and then dry them on their front side in an upright position outdoors. To prevent the socks from fraying, do not dry them with an iron, on batteries, or near a fire.
