• Low: 30 lumens of white light with a beam radius of 17 meters. The battery charge will last users for 33 hours.
• Eco: The beam brightness is 4 lumens. The flashlight can illuminate an area within a radius of 7 meters for 110 hours.

The second group of modes is called Functional mode and includes 3 lighting options:

• Red: not bright constant red light at 1 lumen. The flashlight illuminates a space within a radius of 3 meters and works for 40 hours.
• SOS: A flashing mode for signaling distress. Its brightness is 30 lumens, its illumination radius is 17 meters, and its operating time is 66 hours.
• Red flash: flashing mode of the red diode. Its brightness is 1 lumen. The flashlight illuminates the area at a distance of 3 meters and works for 80 hours.

The brightest mode of operation of the Fenix HL12 flashlights did not fall into any of these groups. This is the Turbo mode with a brightness of 400 lumens. It effectively illuminates the space within a radius of 64 meters. This mode works for only 1 minute in a row, because after that the built-in flashlight mechanism is triggered to prevent overheating of the diode. In manual mode, it can be turned on again, but manufacturers do not recommend doing this until the Fenix HL12 has cooled down a little.

Each group of modes is controlled by its own button. And the Turbo mode can be turned on by any of them. In addition, there is a function of locking the control buttons, which is useful during tourist trips, which prevents the flashlight from accidentally turning on when packed in a backpack or bag.

The Fenix HL12 headlamp receives energy from a built-in battery with lithium-polymer electrolyte. Its capacity is 1000 mAh, which is enough for autonomous operation for 110 hours in the most energy-efficient mode. This battery can be recharged without any problems via a micro-USB cable. The connection connector is located on the back of the case and is covered with a special rubber plug.

Regarding the mounts, the Fenix HL12 body can rotate vertically by 60°. As for the lighting direction, the user chooses it at his own discretion. The width of the central light beam is 20°, and the angle of side illumination is 77°.
