The knife of the AD-15 model was created by a working group of Cold Steel engineers and the famous knife designer Andrew Demko. From the first, custom, development, the knife presented to your attention differs only in materials – all drawings, tolerances, contour and general idea are preserved intact. Initially, the materials of the handle, for example, were titanium and steel, but since they both weighed down and made the product more expensive, it was decided to replace them with aluminum and G-10.Drop Point type blade made of S35VN steel. This combination is considered by users to be the most universal, because it can solve a wide range of tasks. The release of the blade is possible with one hand thanks to the pegs in the form of a truncated cone with fluting. On the butt there is a false blade and a notch for the thumb rest.The main and easily recognizable feature of the AD-15 knife is the handle with a lock, which Andrew Demko, its inventor, calls the Scorpion Lock. In fact, this is a creative rethinking of the traditional Back Lock, but, let's just say, the rethinking is very deep. If in the Back Lock you need to press the "rocker", remove your fingers from the groove of the handle, into which the blade will return, and then slowly and carefully fold the knife with both hands, then in the AD-15 model you calmly, with your thumb, flip the locking bolt from the pin on the blade and fold the knife with one hand. The axis of rotation of the bolt (English " yoke”) is located on the spacer, in which there is a preloading steel spring. The bolt itself is made of 6061 aluminum. The liners are made of steel, the linings are made of durable and reliable G-10. The sub-finger notch on the handle is pronounced, the knife lies comfortably in the palm of your hand, despite the unusual feeling of the main part of the lock.The small weight and size, the two-position clip and the approval of the Cold Steel company allows you to attribute the AD-15 model to the knives of daily wear.
