The Spyderco Matriarch knife was produced in the 90s for the South African market. It was a slightly smaller and lighter version of the Spyderco Civilian, one of the most effective knives for active self-defense. The recently released Spyderco Matriarch2 model demonstrates the same S-shaped blade that allows, like a cat's claw, to hook and cut objects of various densities – leather, tarpaulin, net, etc. This is facilitated by high-quality Japanese steel VG-10 and serrated edge sharpening. The Spyderco Matriarch2 is equipped with a handle made of fiberglass-filled nylon (FRN). This material is very light, but at the same time extremely durable. It is formed by casting, because its bidirectional textured surface is very securely held by the palm of the hand in all weather conditions.
